Why I shifted my career to OutSystems, and why you should too!

I still remember doing my first coding in BASIC back when ZX Spectrum was the thing! Having the ability to build my own games really opened perspectives for me, but being just a teenager I didn’t take it very seriously, it was just fun. As I grew up and moved to the PC, I remember messing around with Pascal and Delphi and latter started to learn HTML and VBScript to build dynamic ASP pages.

Quite basic stuff, I would say these days… But for me, that just had started using the Internet for one hour a day through a 33 kbits modem to search things on Altavista, it was quite an endeavor! All this experimentation eventually lead me to my degree in Software Engineering where I really had to learn how to code lots of stuff. (from C to Lisp, Scheme, Prolog, Java, c#, Assembly, Javascript and many other languages and technologies)

Hell, I even had to do a language compiler! It was difficult at the time and great challenge but also an amazing thing to do because it allowed me to understand how a coding language works inside out!

Professional background

I ended up using a lot of Java during the degree and liking it, because it was really high level and object oriented language. When I finished my studies, I decided to start own company and build an e-commerce product. I opted to use C# because the .NET framework as looking very promising at the time (still in version 1). In fact it was, and I stayed with if for a long time…
